Our apparel is inspired by two very real, long-haired dachshunds whose distinct personalities and inspiring stories are at the heart of everything we create.
The Doxies Behind the Designs
Dash: The Heart and Soul (2008–2021)
Dash, the double dapple dachshund featured in our designs, was a true survivor. His life began with hardship; at age three, he was surrendered to a high-kill shelter after being hit by a car, leaving him with two broken legs and a heartworm diagnosis. He was scheduled for euthanasia, but his undeniable spirit shone through. A compassionate shelter worker found a rescue that saved his life, leading him to his forever home with me. Though his life was filled with health challenges, Dash taught us the true meaning of unconditional love and resilience. He lived a full, happy life until 2021, passing away at the age of 13. Every design is a tribute to his enduring, beautiful memory.
Jasper: The Brave Guardian
Jasper, who joined our family at just three months old, is the second muse and a true hero. While he didn't endure the rough start that Dash did, Jasper proved his courage later in life. At age 13, during a walk, a loose pit bull broke free. Without hesitation, Jasper bravely placed himself between the approaching danger and me, taking five serious lacerations to his back. After intense care and a surgery, Jasper made a full recovery (though he sports a few permanent "battle scars" and bald spots). Jasper is still thriving today, preparing to celebrate his 16th birthday this January! He embodies loyalty, bravery, and fierce devotion.
Urban Doxie is more than just a clothing brand; it's a celebration of these two amazing dachshunds who proved that no matter the size or the struggle, the heart of a doxie is unmatched. We hope their stories inspire you as much as they inspire our designs.
